In arranging for our party of 50 to fly from Heathrow to Kathmandu, Qatar Airways were one of the first companies to partner the Everest Test. It is important that with what lies ahead we arrive in the best condition possible and there is no doubt that Qatar Airways will ensure this is the case.

Under the leadership of Chief Executive Officer Akbar Al Baker, the airline has grown into an award-winning carrier and one of only a handful of airlines to be given a Five Star ranking for service and excellence by the independent aviation industry research company Skytrax.

The UK is Qatar Airways' biggest European operation with 42 flights a week non-stop to Qatar - four daily services from London Heathrow and daily from both London Gatwick and Manchester connecting to destinations across Africa, the Middle East, Indian Subcontinent and the Far East. One of Qatar Airways key destinations is Kathmandu, with eleven services a week from Doha offering multiple connections from the UK.

Himalayan Rescue Association

Himalayan Rescue Association

The Himalayan Rescue Association (HRA) is a voluntary non-profit organisation formed in 1973 with the objective to reduce casualties in the Nepal Himalayas, particularly from the effects of Acute Mountain Sickness (AMS).

As the numbers of tourists to the area increases, so do the risk levels. Through a combination of medical out-posts, as well as education programmes, HRA are helping keep those numbers down. The doctors of the HRA can deal with other medical conditions and treat native Nepali's, including porters, for free.

For the last 35 years, the HRA have helped make the Himalayas a safer place for tourists and locals alike and we look forward to working with them.

Oxbridge Cricket Balls by Tiflex

Oxbridge Cricket Balls by Tiflex

Using a pink ball for The Everest Test was one of the first decisions we made after they were used in the English domestic Twenty20 competition for the first time in 2008, and we were delighted when Tiflex offered to provide us with 100 Oxbridge balls, all a very bright and shiny pink.

Tiflex's involvement in cricket is moving the game forward as they have the best testing facilities and in-house trained scientists to develop the products. With a state of the art laboratory, part of which has been set aside for the development and testing of cricket balls to maintain an even balance between bat and ball. The ECB decided that it is time to improve the quality of balls used in first class cricket and introduced the Tiflex ball into first class cricket for the 2008 season. The MCC have also been quick to follow suit and have specified that Tiflex's Oxbridge range of balls will be used in many of their prestigious fixtures.
